Removal shouldn't be the hardest part of a revision.

Dual mode ultrasound for revision of endoprosthesis.

TORS is a new ultrasonic system for bone cement removal. The use of optimized, patent-pending technology enables an effective, predictable, reliable and safe bone cement removal system. The TORS probe heads contribute to the effectiveness of cement removal in this state of the art system, and thus, reduces operating theatre working time.

The well-engineered system has extremely stable functionality and performance, as well as easy and comfortable handling.

A range of working tips

The TORS probe designs provide Scrapers which maintain lock in cement, peeling it off bone and Piercers aim at reducing stalling and getting stuck. The unique 4mm head is designed to penetrate the toughest, low friction cement plugs in use.

The acoustic impedance mismatch between titanium and bone means that TORS generally squeals audibly against bone in the same way as other ultrasound systems.

Efficient and safe cement removal is critical

in revision arthroplasty.

Axial Handpiece & Cement Transducer

The TORS transducer provides a robust, efficient ultrasonic “motor” to drive resonance in either longitudinal or patent-pending longitudinal and torsional mode probes, depending on the cutting function required for easy, gentle cement removal, throughout the medullary canal. We have designed a durable solution to the problem of autoclave sterilisation of a handpiece with power active switch.

The two-part TORS cement handset comprises:

  • Inner transducer – a simple switchless canister with robust seals.
  • Outer handpiece – a lightweight, ergonomic, single use plastic handle with comfortable annular switch accessible at all angles.
