Removal shouldn't be the hardest part of a revision.

Next generation ultrasonic system for bone cement removal.

TORS is an ultrasonic system developed for polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bone cement removal during orthopaedic revision procedures. It is designed for use in hip, knee, elbow, and shoulder surgeries, offering an alternative approach to mechanical cement removal techniques.

The system features patented ultrasonic technology and offers multiple tip geometries suitable for hip, knee, and upper extremity applications. The unique machining of the tips converts a proportion of the ultrasonic vibration from longitudinal to torsional.

Plug & Play Generator

The plug and play generator provides two cement channels to allow for efficient tip interchange during surgery.

The illuminated display gives clear indications when in use.

The generator has automatic transducer recognition and constantly communicates with the transducers when in use to ensure the frequency is matched for optimum performance.

The generator can be activated by either the handpiece or foot pedal.

Axial Handpiece & Cement Transducer

A lightweight, single-use, ergonomic outer handpiece with annular switch. A foot pedal is available for alternative activation.

The sealed, autoclavable transducer contains four lead zirconate titanate piezoelectric crystals which convert the electrical stimulation to a high-frequency mechanical vibration. TORS operates with a frequency of 36kHz. The steps on the horn of the transducer increase the amplitude of the vibration as it passes to the tip.

TORS is designed for use without the need for excessive manual force. The ultrasonic technology enables controlled removal of PMMA bone cement.

A range of working tips

Piercers – fenestrated conical profile, designed to work into the cement mantle. The unique 4mm piercer can be used to penetrate all types of cement restrictor.

Scrapers – textured rear-face, designed to remove cement from the sides of the medullary canal in a retrograde fashion.

Fine Access – a tip range specifically designed to access small and difficult to reach areas.

Extension bars – to allow work in a deeper space, tuned so that there is no loss or gain in displacement. The curved extension bar can assist when working distally in the femur

Wrenches

The supplied spanners (wrenches) allow the tips to be tightened to the end of the transducer. Using the spanners (wrenches) is essential for the ultrasonic vibration to pass through the length of the instrument.
